Before & After School Care - YMCA

The Y-Kids before- and after-care programs extend your child's learning day in a fun and meaningful way. The YMCA sites, licensed by the State of New Jersey, focus on character development and healthy living while students are under the supervision of positive and caring role models. Families must register online at https://ymcanj.org/child-care/ykids-before-after-school-care. Any questions email: [email protected].

The Y provides before and after-school care programs in Marlboro Township's schools:

  • Asher Holmes Elementary School
  • David C Abbott Early Learning Center
  • Frank Defino Central Elementary School
  • Frank J Dugan Elementary School
  • Marlboro Elementary School
  • Marlboro Middle School ( after-school  only)
  • Robertsville Elementary School

YMCA supports children in choosing the activities they love most—children will have time each day to explore their own interests in areas like Creative Arts, Story and SEL discussion time, STEAM, indoor/outdoor fitness, puzzles, tabletop games and more.

In addition, the YMCA provides time to support students with:

  • Homework
  • Leadership Roles
  • Enrichment Clubs for middle-schoolers.

The Y is here to meet your family needs:

Flexible Enrollment Days - Children may be enrolled for two, three, four, or five days per week. In order to ensure adequate staffing, families must register for their days on a monthly basis, and the monthly fee will be drafted on the first of each month. The Y also provides a sibling discount, and no charge for days where there is a one-session day scheduled on the school calendar. Before-school care programs begin at 7:00 a.m. and after care ends at 6:30 p.m. The YMCA offers a "schools out" camp on scheduled closings at our local YMCA branches. Parents can register online for these scheduled camps.

All registered Y-Kids receive a youth membership to one of our local YMCA branches. Call to learn more at 732-566-9266.

Drop-In Care Available - "Drop-in" care slots are available at every site for when an emergency arises. Parents must register and pay the annual registration fee for a child to attend an AM or PM session. Please notify the Y office when this is needed.

One-Session Day Availability - The YMCA also provides service for scheduled one-session days and may close early the day before a holiday. Families will be notified of any early aftercare closings. This is available for parents whose children regularly attend YMCA before- or after-care programs as well as for those parents who wish to use a "drop-in" slot provided they have given us 48-hour notice to ensure adequate staffing.

Financial assistance is available through the YMCA YCares program. Visit the website to apply for assistance. The YMCA also accepts Child Care Resources.

Delayed Morning Opening - If the district issues a delayed opening, the Y morning program is not available for the safety of the students and staff.

Early Closing of School - If schools are closed for inclement weather or for any other situation, the YMCA Y-Kids program will be open for a 1-hour period. YMCA staff will remind parents that the program is canceled, and ask that the parents arrange to pick up their children within the 1-hour window for the safety of the students and staff.

If you have additional questions about the program, contact the Child Achievement Branch Business Manager at [email protected] or call 732-566-9266.
